In 1852 she married Adin M. Converse and they immediately came to Ionia county, which was a wilderness, by ox team, took up a government claim and settled there. Into their home were born ten children, five of whom survive, Geo., of Saginaw, Josephine Watson of Keene, Frank E. of Belding, Fred. E. of Ionia, and Ida M. Barkley of Lowell, who took care of her in her last illness. March 7, 1877 Mr. Converse died, leaving the entire responsibility of the home and family to the mother. When a young woman she united with the Orleans Free Methodist church and always lived a quiet Christian life. After months of patient suffering, Thursday morning, November 20, 1913, she met her Savior and loved ones. Services were held by Rev. Reihl of the Keene M. E. church and the remains of a noble mother carried to their last resting place by her three sons and three sons-in-law.
