Portland Observer, 19 Jul 1934

Max Cook, 41, a former well known Portland resident, died Monday night at a 
hospital in Three Rivers, where he had resided for a number of years.  The body 
was brought here and funeral services held from the home of his half-sister, Mrs. 
John Shay, this afternoon with Rev. John H. Stewart officiating.  The Masonic 
order was in charge of the services.  Burial was made in Portland cemetery.
