She was born Sept. 12, 1919, the daughter of Orin and Bessie (Randell) Schmidt, in Ionia. She moved to Florida in 1984. She was a registered nurse for the Ionia County Memorial Hospital and the Michigan Department of Corrections. She was of the Methodist faith. She is survived by her husband, Robert Cook, of North Port, Fla.; three sons, Lee (Linda) Cook of Ionia, Ralph (Joanne) Cook of Lansing, and Derryl (Juanita) Cook of North Port, Fla.; two brothers, Gordon Schmidt and Earl Schmidt, both of Ionia; a sister, Carol (Kenneth) Frisbie of Harbor Springs; and eight grandchildren, Lisa, George, Curtis, Tammy, Christine, Michael, Karris and Kristen; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brother, Leland Schmidt in 1998; and a grandson, Bruce Cook, in 1986. The Celebration of Life services will be at a later date in Ionia. The family requests memorial donations be made to Hospice of S.W. Fla., 30028 Caring Way, Suite 2, Port Charlotte, Fla. 33952. Charlotte Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
