The Ionia Sentinel-Standard, Tuesday, September 13, 1960

Funeral service will be Wednesday at the Pewamo St. Joseph’s church for David 
A. Cook, 18-year old youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Cook of Pewamo who was 
killed early Sunday morning 2 ½ miles south of Fowler in Clinton  county when 
his car struck a tree.

He was the youngest of 13 Cook children.  Clinton county officers said Cook 
was driving when he apparently went to sleep.  His passenger, Bruce Thelen, 
son of Mrs. and Mrs. Clement Thelen, also of Pewamo, was critically injured 
and is in St. Johns hospital with multiple lacerations and internal injuries.
