Cook, 64, died unexpectedly about 9 a.m. Tuesday morning near Sunfield of a heart attack, while enroute to Lansing. Mr. and Mrs. Cook formerly of Detroit bought their home on E. Virginia St., (the former Ray Link home) and moved here last December. He had been in ill health for six years and prior to that he had been employed by the Morse Chain Co., in Detroit for 28 years. He was born in St. Louis but had spent most of his younger life near Mt. Pleasant. They were enroute to Lansing, when he was stricken to obtain an artificial leg which had been fitted last week. A diabetic condition necessitated amputating the leg above the knee. Surviving are his wife Maude M.; one daughter, Mrs. Evelyn Webert of Portland; three sons, Dale C. of Royal Oak; Lyle E. of Farmington and Pvt. Robert E. of Fort Leonard Wood Mo.; three sisters and two brothers, two of them residing here, Mrs. Ervin Wicks in the Frank Smelker cottage, which they purchased and Floyd Cook in the former Karl Jordan cottage. Mr. Cook was taken to the Gorsline-Runciman funeral home in Lansing where services will be held Friday with burial at Williamston.
