Cook, 81 years of age died at Belding Hospital Thursday morning. He had been in the city about six years and for the past year had lived at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Sweet at 615 W. Liberty, where had a light stroke a few weeks ago and one on Tuesday which proved fatal. Mr. Cook was born in Grattan township, September 19, 1869, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joel P. Cook. He was a miller, learning his trade with the W.R. Tebbel flouring mill in Smyrna and lived there for many years, afterward he worked as a miller in Ionia and Greenville. His only survivors are an aunt, Mrs. Elmer Cook of this city and several cousins. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Ionia and although not a church member, was an active Christian. Funeral services were held at Ellis funeral home Saturday at 2 o’clock and burial was in Otisco Cemetery beside his wife, the former Minnie Luce. The Masonic Lodge of Ionia conducted a memorial service and pall bearers were chosen from their number. Attending the service from out of the city were Mr. and Mrs. Don Cook of Jackson, and Mr. and Mrs. Byron Cook of Rockford.
