Cook died at the age of 67 years. He was born in Madison, Wayne county, N.Y., in 1842. In company with his parents he came to Michigan in 1852, and settled in the township of Ronald, Ionia county. When the civil war broke out he enlisted. At the age of 21 years he married Arabella J. McDonald, on October 27, 1863. They then came to Ionia, he working as a carpenter, which trade he learned from Ashley Cooper, and he was regarded as a first-class workman. The family have lived in Ionia almost continuously ever since. Mr. Cook was in feeble health the last five years, and unable to work much. He leaves the wife, and one son, Silas E., of Belding, to mourn his death. Mrs. Lillie J. Fortier, who died five years ago, was a daughter.
