Cook died at the home of his son Homer Cook in Smyrna Monday aged 67 years. The deceased was one of the pioneers of this section and a grand good man having lived in Smyrna for about 30 years. His father was a brother of Rufus Cook who settled at Cooks Corners in an early day and was one of a family of six brothers and five sisters all of whom are dead except one brother Elmer Cook of this city and two sisters. Mr. Cook was an excellent citizen and highly respected, he always took an interest in the better part of social life of the community and every ready to respond to a call in a time of need. The funeral was held in the Baptist church of which he was a loyal member. Rev. D. E. Hills of Greenville officiating. At his request Deck Hoppough and wife and Mrs. Geo. Hoppough and son Clayton sang some of his favorite hymns. His remains were taken to Ashley cemetery and laid to rest by the side of those of his wife who died about 26 years ago.
