She was born on Dec. 30, 1930 in Hazel Park, the daughter of Lawrence and Inez (Gibbons) Sutton. She lived in Madison heights until 1974 before moving to Muir. She was employed b the Ionia Co. Memorial Hospital. Joan enjoyed cooking gardening, family, beautiful sunsets in Ludington and was known for her incredible industrious and persevering spirit. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George Cook, Sr.; infant son, Jason; and a sister, Cleo Sox. Surviving are daughter, Adrienne (Jim) White; sons George (Linda) Cook, John Cook and Mark (Kathy) Cook; grandchildren, Alicia (Denny), Emily (Adams) Abigail (Andres), Lydia, John Michael (Magdaly), Kim (Nick) and Daniel; great-grandchildren Gabrielle, Maia, Brady, Hazel, Julian, Lucas, Henry, Nuriel, Olivia and Colton; sister, Madeline (Bill) Paholak; brother, Allen (Gwen) Sutton; many nieces and nephews. Private family services will be held. A luncheon for family and friends will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, May 14, 2016 at Joan's house in Muir. Arrangement are with Lehman Funeral Homes.
