January 26, 2023 Excerpts from Lansing Obituary JEAN COOK Died Sunday January 22, 2023-age 96 Born December 20, 1926 to Neville and Freda (Kropf) Davarn in Pewamo, Mich. Graduated from Pewamo High School in 1944, then attended Sparrow School of Nursing where she received her RN Certificate. Jean married James Leonard Cook on September 28, 1948. They had 73 years of marriage before Jim passed in 2021. They lived in Lansing,Michigan most of their lives. Jim and Jean owned/operated the Landmark West Side, Dexter Hardware with their sons for over 50 years. Jean and Jim enjoyed square dancing, time with children and grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband,James"Jim" Cook; parents, Neville & Freda (Kropf) Davarn; brothers, Jack Davarn & Bill Davarn; sister-in-law, Bertha Davarn and son-in-law, Doug Ferris. Survived by her chidlren, Ellen (Bruce)Buysse, Beth Cook, James Cook, carol(Mike) Farrell and dan (Diana)Cook; grandchildren, Sam Nokfoor, Rori Bowers,Chasity Fudella, April Holman, Trinity Farrell, Sarah Gray, Joshua Buysse, Emily Buysse, Maggie Farrell-Poshedly and Anna Parker;20 great- grandchildren, brother-in-law,Leon (Jeanne) Cook and many nieces, nephews & friends. Mass of Christian Burial will take place Saturday, January 28, 2023, at 10:00 AM at St.Marys Cathedral with Rev. Fr.Karl Pung celebrant. Interment following at Hillside Cemetery. Visitation Friday January 27, 2023-from 4-8 PM at the Palmer, Bush & Jensen family Funeral Home, Delta Chapel, located at 6301 W.St.Joseph Hwy., Lansing,MI 48917. A special thanks to Sparrow Intensive Care Unit & Sparrow Hospice for their loving care of Jean. Memorial contributions may be made to the Greater Lansing Food Bank, St.Mary's Cathedral, or Sparrow hospice in Jean's memory.
