The Ionia Sentinel-Standard, Monday, May 15, 1972
A lifelong Pewamo resident, Mrs. Matilda Cook, 83, died Sunday at St. Mary’s 
hospital in Grand Rapids.  

Surviving are a son, Norman of Pewamo; six daughters, Mrs. Bernita 
Koenigsknecht of St. Johns, Mrs. Elda Goerge of Pewamo, Mrs. Rita Goerge of 
Fowler, Mrs. Rosaline Schanski and Mrs. Kate Bushong of Ionia, Mrs. Geraldine 
Schafer of Westphalia; 43 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren; three 
brothers, Isadore Schafer, Arnold Schafer and Ernest Schafer, of Pewamo; 
sister, Mrs. Mary Smith of Pewamo.

Funeral services will be Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph church in 
Pewamo.  Interment will be at St. Joseph cemetery.  Rosary will be recited at 
Geller funeral home in Westphalia Monday and Tuesday at 3 and 8 p.m.
