Ben was born in Pewamo, January 31, 1932, the son of Anthony and Anna (Esch) Cook. Ben was a retired Las Vegas Metro Police Department officer and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving at the Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas. Described as a “colorful character”, with a great sense of humor, he was an ardent fan of golf and a nature lover, including fishing and hunting. Formerly married to Rhesa (Roberts), he is the loving father of Beth Ann Cook Chronister and John Cook. Surviving are his wife of 30 years, Susan Melanie (Schwartz) Cook, daughter Beth Ann (Thomas) Cook Chronister of Austin Texas; son John Robert Cook of Las Vegas; stepdaughter, Valorie Butcher of Waldport, OR; sisters Cecilia (Carl) Smith of Portland, Rosaline (Fred) Schmitz of Pewamo and Gladys (Richard) Refsnyder of Penndel, PA.; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Ben was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Jane (Charles) Wirth; brothers Gerald and Joseph (Connie) Cook; sister-in-law Georgia Cook and brother-in-law Carl Smith. Services were private.
