The Ionia Standard, Friday, September 28, 1917


A. J. Cook, a resident of the city since 1878, died this morning at 9:00 
o’clock, having been ailing for almost a year.  He was not considered 
seriously ill, however, until last Friday night.  He was 73 years old last 
March.  His widow and a daughter, Mrs. George W. Thomas of Detroit, survive 
him, another daughter and a son having died some years ago.  Mr. cook was a 
Civil war veteran, serving in the Vermont light artillery.  He was born in 
Wallingford, Vermont.
