Mr. Cooley was born in Ohio about 1885. When a baby, his mother was burned to death and the baby was taken by his grandparents by the name of Etinebaugh. His father married again and settled in Michigan and Floyd came to know another mother. He attended high school in Lake Odessa, his parents living just west of the now Verne Bishop home, and having a farm northeast of Lake Odessa. Floyd went west, was interested in several enterprises and finally in the oil business at Taft, Cal., where he had made good and had held several responsible positions, being vice-president at time of his death. He leaves the widow, who formerly was Miss Grace Nickles of Portland and taught school in that community, three sons and two daughters, one son Glenn, a sergeant in service, also there are two brothers and three sisters, all living in California. He was a cousin of Mrs. R. W. Goodemoot. The funeral was held in the Masonic temple at Taft, Monday afternoon.
