Cooley, who died in Traverse City last Thursday, were held in the Congregational church at two o’clock p.m., Sunday. There was a large gathering of her old neighbors and friends besides the relatives present, and also members of the Daughters of Rebekah and Oddfellows were there in a body to pay their last respects to the deceased. Rev. Allan J. Blair officiated and gave an excellent sermon. Appropriate hymns were sung by Fred Cornell. Her remains were placed in the cemetery at Otisco. The beautiful floral offering and emblem of the D. of R. graced the casket. The deceased was born in Webster, Washtenaw county, Mich., June 15, 1843 and came with her parents to Otisco in 1844, where she resided until their death. She came to her home in Belding twenty-two years ago, where she lived an exemplary life. She leaves two brothers, M.A. and J.G. Cooley, of this city, and one nephew, Owen Cooley of Chicago, and two nieces, Mrs. L. Goodell and Miss Elsie Cooley of Mason City, Ia. Miss Cooley was a devoted member of the Congregational church; also a member of the Rebekah lodge of this city and was its secretary for a number of years. Miss Cooley in her younger days taught school in a number of school districts in this and adjoining counties, and there are many of her old pupils living in this vicinity who remember her very kindly. At the time of her death she was seventy-three years old. The bearers were: Rufus Morse, Wad Fiske, Bert Fiske, John Morse, Clayton Kimberly and L.J. Kimberly.
