COOLEY OF BLANCHARD THE VICTIM OF A FRIGHTENED HORSE. The body of Charles Cooley of Blanchard son of Thomas Cooley of this place was brought here for burial Monday night. Accompanied by his wife and young son Floyd and six members of the I.O.O.F. of that place where, he was an honored member, acting as bearers and whose names areas follows; John Culp, a brother north of town, Wm.Shepard formerly of Lake Odessa, Henry Moke, Thos. Jarrard, Ed Hinderieidter and Earl Houghton. Mr.Cooley had purchased a new horse and was about to hitch this horse with another to take a load of newly butchered hogs to market.When the horse caught sight of the hogs it became frightened and as Mr.Cooley entered the stall he was pushed against the wall. This happened several times before he could extricate himself, he also received a knock in the bowels from the knee of the horse.This happened on Wednesday, Dec.11 and on the following Saturday he died from the injuries. The funeral was held at Blanchard and a short service at the home of his father in this village last Tuesday with burial at Lakeside Cemetery. A brother Alvin Cooley of Adrian also attended the funeral here.
