Cooley died at one o'clock Saturday afternoon, after an illness of less than a week. Funeral services were held at the house Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Charles Nease of Lyons, and on Monday the remains were taken to Martinville for interment. He was born near Detroit 76 years ago. He had lived in Muir about 8 years, coming here from the Soldiers' Home in Grand Rapids. He was a veteran of the civil war, attaining the rank of corporal in Company F, 24th Regular Michigan Infantry. He is survived by a widow, a brother, Charles Cooley, of Pontiac, two sisters living at Romeo and Lapeer and two sons, Andrew Cooley of Muir, and James Cooley, of Redford. The death of Amos B. Cooley was the passing of one of the more familiar characters and indefatigable workers in the village. We learn that the cause of his death was a fall from a wagon, which he recently sustained. After disposing of some of the property, the aged widow will go to Grand Rapids, her former home, to live. In their bereavement she and the other kinsfolks received many considerations from neighbors and friends, for which they are very grateful. Additional Comments: Civil War Veteran Co. F. 24th Mi.
