Train this Morning. Simeon Coon, a well known resident of Portland was struck by passenger train No. 21, Conductor Rich, this morning, about 10:50 o'clock. Coon is a man in the 60's, who is best known as one of othe patient fishermen, who haunt the river early and late in the season. He was sitting on the railroad bridge crossing the Looking Glass, when the train showed up. The engineer saw him get up and cross over the track, and supposed he was seeking a safe position at outer edge. He was outside the rail when the engine scooped him up and dropped him down a dead man. The body was carried two or three rods, and dropped on one side. He was struck in the head, and was injured in several other places. He is very deaf and it is thought did not hear the train approaching nor the three sharp warning whistles from engine. He leaves a wife and two sons grown to maturity."
