The Ionia Daily Sentinel-Standard, Thursday, July 1, 1937
Mrs. Lillian H. Coon, 33, 625 Jones street, and her infant son died at 6:45 
Wednesday evening at Blodgett hospital, Grand Rapids, shortly after the birth 
of the child.  Mrs. Coon was taken to the hospital a week ago. 

She was born in Green Bay, Wis. February 16, 1904, the daughter of Mr. and 
Mrs. August Renz, who came to Michigan and Ionia county when Lillian was only 
three years of age.  Mrs. Renz worked for several yeas in the Ypsilanti Reed 
factory, and Mrs. Coon also worked there for some time after being graduated 
form the Ionia high school in 1923.  June 17, 1928 she was married to Bert H. 
Coon of Ionia by Rev. William F. Kendrick, who was pastor of the Methodist 
Episcopal church at that time.

Survivors are her husband, Bert; one daughter, Shirley May, six years of age, 
and one sister, Mrs. Nathan Mason of Ionia.

Funeral services for mother and son will be held Friday afternoon at 3 o’clock 
from the Myers funeral home on East Main Street.  Rev. Paul Stewart will 
officiate and burial will be in Highland Park cemetery.
