Ionia Sentinel Standard, 22 Mar 1948

Bert H. Coon, 44, Pere Marquette employee, died at 4:20 Palm Sunday afternoon at
his home in Big Rapids where he had lived for the past two years.  He had been
ill for several weeks.

He was born January 3, 1904, the son of David and Mary Coon in Ionia county.  He
resided in Ionia and vicinity all his life until two years ago when he moved to
Big Rapids.  He married Lillian Renz of Ionia in 1928.  She preceded him in
death in 1937 at the time of the death of an infant son.  He is a member of the
Brotherhood of Firemen and Engineers.

Surviving him are one daughter, Shirley May, of Rosebush; four brothers, Frank
of Big Rapids and Neil, Gordon and Elvert of Big Rapids Route 1; and four
sisters, Mrs. Ray Rogers of Pennsylvania, Mrs. Gordon Graboskey of Ferris, Mrs.
Theodore Hampel of Lake Odessa and Mrs. Lawrence Tomkin of Big Rapids.

Funeral services will be held from the Martison-Rogers funeral home in Big
Rapids Thursday morning at 10:30 o’clock.  Interment will be in Highland Park
cemetery, Ionia, at 3 p.m. that day with the Rev. Dwight M. Kitch officiating.
