He owned and operated the former Merchant and McCourt homes four miles southwest of Portland, retiring eleven years ago. Upon retirement he moved to Lake Odessa. The Rev. Park Newcombe of the Portland Methodist church officiated at the service. interment was at Portland cemetery. Bearers were grandsons, Leon Brokaw, Merwin Baum, LaVerne Bates, John Visser, and Robert Kranz and Irving Wicks of Lake Odessa. Surviving are his wife, Evah and three daughters by his first wife, the former Vida Carne, Mrs. Corwin Baum of Portland, Mrs. Mark Brokaw of Eagle and Mrs. Otto Bennett of Lansing, and a brother Frank Cooper of Lyons.
