Ionia Sentinel Standard – 28 March 1901
Jarvis C. Cooper, one of the best known of the old soldiers of the city, died 
at his home at 718 Prospect Street at 8:50 o’clock last night, where he was 
for a long time a bed-ridden sufferer.  He was aged 63 years, the last 36 of 
which have been spent as a citizen of Ionia.  He was born at Paris, Maine, and 
married the wife who survives him, at Boston, Mass.  Two children, also 
survive:  Mrs. E. L. VanHyning and Milo Cooper.  Burial will be on Sunday, 
with the funeral service at the late home at 2 o’clock pm.
