Ionia Sentinel Standard, Feb 1998

Mary C. Cooper, 65, of Ionia passed away Feb. 20 at her home.  She was born the
daughter of Winford and Bertha (Perry) Johnson on Dec. 20, 1932 near
Hubbardston.  She married Stanley L. Cooper on June 17, 1950 in Ionia.  She was
a member of the Ionia First United Methodist Church.

Surviving are her husband Stanley, her daughter Judy (Augustine) Alcalar of
Ionia, four grandchildren – Rick (Julie) Alcalar, Emily Cooper, Shannan Cooper &
Angie Alcalar; two great grandchildren; two sisters, Frances Sherman of Saranac
and Reva Byers of Ionia; one sister-in-law, Peg Leak of S. Ionia; five
brothers-in-law, Eugene King of Lowell, Clyde Cooper of Ada, James and Jack
Cooper both of Ionia and Gary Cooper of CA.  She was preceded in death by her
son Fred Cooper in 1995; two sisters, Clara Johnson and Gladys Hull; and two
brothers Delbert Johnson and Carlton Johnson

Funeral and Commital Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday at the First
United Methodist Church, in Ionia, with Rev. Lawrence Hodge officiating. 
Interment will be in Balcom Cemetery, in Ionia.  Visiting hours are from 7:00
p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Sunday at the Cook Funeral Home, Rich St. Chapel, in Ionia. 
Memorial contributions can be made to the First United Methodist Church Memorial
Fund in care of Cook Funeral Home, in Ionia.
