She was born in Smyrna, the daughter of William and Elizabeth Parle Talbot. She was a loving mother and grandmother. Her family meant everything to her. Ethel was proud of her Irish heritage and had a gift of Irish wit that she shared with family and friends. She was a devout Roman Catholic, and her faith was evident in the way she lived her life. She graduated from Belding High School with the class of 1933 and was the homecoming queen in 1929. Ethel worked at the basket factory in Belding, and was later a nurses aid at the nursing home. She married Milton J. Cooper and he preceded her in death in 1964. She also was preceded in death by her brothers, Joe, Bill, John and Ed and her sisters, Margie, Mary and Kate. She is survived by her children, Kay Jeppeson of Belding, Kent and Maria Cooper of Otsego, Dennis Cooper of North Carolina, Gary and Carol Cooper of Belding, Pat and Jean Cooper and Beth and Ken Taylor, all of Greenville, Joe and Sue Cooper of Belding and John and Linda Cooper of Greenville; grandchildren, Marcia Leitch, Sonny Clark, Patrick Clark, Sue and Rick McQueen, Mike and Kari Clark, Tony and Gerri Ann Clark, Elizabeth “Buffy” and Dave Loper, Dan and Jackie Clark, Scott Cooper, Lori and Allen Arnsman, Lisa Cooper, Dean Cooper, Jason and Marci Cooper, Adam Cooper, Frankie and Phil Haglund, Byron Cooper, Matthew Taylor, Michelle Taylor, John Taylor, Dr. Matthew and Lynn Cooper, Shelley Cooper, Angie and Mike Wood, Lori Cooper, Joey Cooper Jr., Dennis Cooper, Kim and Jeff Alexander, Jennifer and Bob Adams, John Jr. and LeeAnn Cooper; many great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian burial is 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Belding, with Frs. Fred Brucker and Troy Nevins officiating. Interment is in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Parnell. The family will greet relatives and friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding, with a Rosary prayed at 8:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Visiting Nurse Hospice, St. Charles Catholic Church or St. Joseph Catholic Church.
