Funeral from his late residence, in the fourth ward, this Thursday morning, at 10:30 o'clock. John Cooper was born in Plymouth, Massachusetts, in 1799. When two years of age his father's family removed to Oxford county, Maine, where he remained until 1867, when he came to this place, to which a number of his children had preceded him. He has always been noted for his robust health, and at the last election, went to the polls on foot and voted. He was for fifty years an exemplary member of the Baptist church and died full of faith that it would be well with him. He was the father of eleven children, nine of whom survive him: George S., W.K. and J.C. Cooper, Mrs. G. K. Jackson and Mrs. I.H. Thayer, of this city; Mrs. Pierce, Philadelphia, Mrs. Belding of Cincinnati, Mrs. Ripley of Portland, Maine, and Mrs. Daniels of Boston. The immediate cause of his death was a severe cold which he contracted by exposure in the open air during the recent severe weather.
