SAMUEL COOPER WELL KNOWN IONIAN SUCCUMBS SUDDENLY Resident of Ionia County Nearly 50 Years and Active In Baptist Church Mrs. Samuel Cooper, 79, well known and highly respected resident of Ionia, died at her home last Friday at daybreak, following an illness of only two weeks. Her demise was sudden and untimely and served as a shock to her family and a host of friends. The funeral was held Sunday afternoon from the late residence, corner of Bliss and Jefferson streets, at 3 o'clock. Rev. E. E. Branch of Grand Rapids, assisted by Rev. Thomas Leroy Parker, rector of the St. John Episcopal church, were in charge. Winchell & Stone were the undertakers. Interment was made at the family7 lot in Highland Park cemetery. The pall bearers were: Delos Towle, Stanton; Samuel, Harvey and Floyd Mullen, all of Lansing; Wallace Haight and Harry Sunderlin of Ionia; The flowers were in charge of Mrs. R. Lee Yates, Mrs. Glenn Mathews and Mrs. Jesse D. Steele. She was born in Fredericktown, New Brunswick, Canada, on August 15, 146. She had been a resident of Ionia county for more than 45 years. It was 5 years ago that she was married to Samuel Cooper, who survives her at the age of 80 years. She is also survived by five children as follows: Mrs. R.L. Taylor, Adrian; Miss Lora Cooper, Herbert Cooper and Harriet Cooper, all at home, and Dr. Gladys Cooper of Red Oak, Iowa. Herbert Cooper is secretary of the Ionia Building & Loan association and Misses Harriet and Lora Cooper are milliners here. Mrs. Cooper had been a member of the Baptist church for 45 years, since she came to the city. The out-of-town people at the funeral were: Mrs. T.E. Johnson, Mr. and Mrs. Percy Edsell, Greenville; Mr. and Mrs. James Fox, Mrs. Daniel Hamilton, Grand Rapids; Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Mullen, Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Mullen, Miss Erma Mullen, Floyd Mullen, Lansing; Delos Towle and Miss Dorothy Towle, Stanton.
