He was born April 26, 1965 , the son of James R. and Linda L. (Hanline) Cooper. LaVon attended Ionia Schools, except for one year at Carson City, graduating from Ionia High School in 1983. During his high school years he worked at Muir IGA and Muir Mini-Mart for his Uncle Tom and Aunt Lisa. In August of 1983 he hired into American Bumper which later became Meridian Automotive and was employed up until his death as a System Control Engineer. He married Gwen Stoakes June 25, 1994 making their home in Muir, and they had a daughter Holli Marie who survives him. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, giving them rides on the gator or tire swing or just helping him with barn chores. He loved his farm “Buffalo East” with his animals including “Chick” his horse, his beloved dog “Mercedes”, as well as Fallow deer, buffalo, and cattle. The pool table was always ready for anyone that stopped by. Over the years he became quite the “amateur chef” and on Wednesday nights you could always find “Coop’s” garage full of friends, good food and a game of cards or pool. He is survived by his father James and Bridget Cooper; mother Linda and Richard Schaefer; daughter Holli Marie and her friend Steven Edwards and his daughter Alexzandra Edwards; Grandchildren Hailey Marie and Wendell Isaiah Rinckey;step brothers Daryl and Richard II Schaefer; step sisters Mary Jo Listerman and Bethann Schafer; special friend Brenda Vanderhoek; grandmother Marilyn Hanline; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins, along with his numerous loyal and always helpful friends. He was preceded in death by grandfather Donald Hanline and grandparents William and Geraldine Cooper. Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at Muir First Christian Church with Pastor John Prominski officiating. The family will receive friends and relatives Tuesday 2:00-4:00 P.M and 7:00-8:30 P.M at Lake Funeral Home in Muir.
