He was 39 years of age and leaves a widow and two children, a boy and a girl. Hasson Buck of this place is a nephew. It seems that Mr. Cooper had been assisting Rev. E. Mudge in working over a barge belonging to the latter and which was partly submerged. They were on the point of abandoning their work temporarily and get the boat into an overflowed field when the swift current caught it and carried it rapidly down stream under a bridge, where it was capsized. Mr. Mudge, being able to swim, made his way to safety, but Mr. Cooper was drowned before assistance could reach him. [Transcriber's Note: There is a notation on the obituary card that he was buried in West Side Cemetery in Hubbardston.] File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/mi/ionia/obits/c/cooper9772nob.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.net/mifiles/ File size: 1.4 Kb
