He was born in Greenville on Aug. 20, 1916, the son of Albert and Pearl Drake Copeland. He married Marian I. Cooper on June 10, 1939, in Oakfield Township, Kent county. He was a member of First Baptist church of Greenville. He was a retired mail carrier in Greenville for 25 years, retiring in 1980, and was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in World War II. He enjoyed reading, working on crafts and his family. He was preceded in death by his twin brothers and twin sisters; his sisters, Marie Allen, Flossie Williams and Evelyn Irish; and his son-in-law, Donald Johnson. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Marina; their children, Patricia Johnson and fiancé Carl Raten of Greenville, Charlotte Jean Harding of Owasso, Okla.; James A. and Maureen Copeland of Rockford, Roberta and David Waldron of Edmore; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; his brother, John Copeland of Greenville; sister-in-law, Margaret Hawley of Belding; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral and committal services are 1 p.m. Wednesday at Hurst Funeral Home, Greenville, with the Rev. Paul Dickson officiating. Burial is in Rest Haven Memory Gardens, Belding. Visitation is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Memorial contributions may be given to First Baptist Church of Greenville.
