He had been ill several months but up and around and remarked Thursday evening how much better he was. The family moved here from a farm near Mulliken about 15 years ago. He built the first store on Shiloh corners. He was a member of Capt. Curtis camp Spanish American War Veterans. He leaves a daughter, Mrs. Elinor Grooms of Ovid, three sons, Donald of Flint, Maurice of Hackensack, N.J., and Niel of Detroit and a step-son, Russell Haverstick of Fairfield, Ohio. A step grandson, Junior Haverstick, also made his home with him since a baby. Mrs. Coppins died in Oct. 1929. Funeral services were held at the home Monday afternoon at two o’clock, Rev. H. Ellis officiated and burial was in the family lot at Woodard Lake Cemetery. Spanish War veterans conducted services at the grave.
