Corey, who was so seriously injured in the explosion of the City Steam Laundry in Owosso August 16th and had suffered great pain since then, died on Monday afternoon at the home of his son in Owosso. He was so badly scalded with escaping steam that for some time his condition did not permit any thorough examination, but in addition to several ribs being broken he was also internally injured, and although everything that loved ones could suggest and medical skill could do was done for his relief and recovery, he gradually became weaker until he was relieved of all pain through the messenger of death, surrounded by his sons and daughter and other loved ones. Mr. Corey was 72 years of age and lived in Muir many years, having formerly lived in Pewamo, where he was a member of the Baptist Church. After the death of his wife last November he moved to Owosso, where his sons were engaged in the laundry business. On the day of the explosion he went to the laundry a short time before the accident, and seeing there was a great rush offered to help. He was put to work near the mangle shaking out clothes, and soon with a great noise the mangle blew up, throwing him to one corner of the room. In addition to the boys in Owosso, deceased leaves a son in the West and also a son William Corey of Muir and a daughter Mrs. T. E. Jackson of Muir. The remains were brought to Muir Tuesday afternoon, accompanied by the sorrowing children. The funeral was held Wednesday at the home of his son in Muir, Rev. Mr. Beshgetoor officiating, assisted by Rev. M. Campbell.
