Maxine J. Corey, 83, of Grand Rapids, died March 11, 1998 at Blodgett Memorial
Medical Center.  Maxine was a member of the Cornelius Ten of First Park
Congregational Church, P.E.O. Sisterhood CU, Grand Rapids Kiwani Queens, life
member of The Michigan State University Alumni Association and a former member
of The Women’s City Club.  She was a longtime volunteer with The Girl Scouts,
Campfire Girls and The Boy Scouts Of America and enjoyed her special interests
in travel, sports, music, playing bridge and summers spent in Charlevoix.

Corey is survived by her husband, Wayne L. Corey; children, Wayne L.(Ky-Thang)
Corey Jr. of Laguna Niguel, Calif., and Barbara Corey Snyder of San Diego,
Calif.; grandchildren, Mark Snyder, Christopher Corey, Susan (Robert) Snyder
Carrera, and Pamela Corey; great-grandchildren, Matthew, Christina and Maria
Carrera; sister Helen Graham; and nephew Ned Graham of Ionia.  She was preceded
in death by her son James B. Corey in 1990.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in First Park Congregational
Church, 10 East Park Place, N.E. with the Rev. Dr. Phillip D. Johnson
officiating.  Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the
funeral home.  Memorial contributions to the charity of choice would be
appreciated.  The family is being served by Metcalf And Jonkhoff Funeral
Service, Cascade Rd., S.E. at Kenmoor.
