The Ionia sentinel-Standard, Monday, April 30, 1979
Mrs. Ethel Corkwell, 80, of 164 Adams St., died early Saturday morning at 
Ionia County Memorial Hospital.  She was born in Putnam County, Ohio, March 
25, 1899, the daughter of William and Izora (Huggins) Getts.  She lived most 
of her life in Ionia and at one time worked for the Ypsilanti Reed Furniture 
Factory in Ionia.

She was married to Leva Corkwell in 1930 and they made their home in Ohio and 
Iowa.  He preceded her in death in 1961.  She had owned and operated the Adams 
Street grocery Store for the past 32 years.

She is survived by two sons, Marvin and Garold, both of Ionia; seven 
grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; one brother, Ralph Getts of Sheridan; 
and one sister, Mrs. Cletis Brockman of Ionia.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday from the Leddick Funeral Home with the Rev. 
Nolan Williams of Zion United Methodist Church officiating.  Burial will be in 
Balcom cemetery.  The family will be at the funeral home today from 3:30-5 and 
7-9 p.m.
