Cornell, who was found dead in his bed at the residence of his brother, Thomas Cornell, Esq., on Saturday morning last. He was born at Eaton, Madison county, New York, on April 30th, 1804, and resided on his father’s farm till 21 years of age. He was then apprenticed to the printer’s trade, which he followed for several years. Owing to ill-health he removed to Rhode Island and engaged in the coopering business. In 1833 he emigrated to Ionia county, there being only seven families here, - those of Alfred and Thomas Cornell, Samuel Dexter, Erastus Yeomans, Oliver Arnold, Darius Windsor and Edward Guild. Daniel remained in Ionia until 1857, when he purchased a farm at Crystal, and while living there was elected Register of Deeds of Montcalm county for three successive terms. In 1864 he came back to Ionia, and has since resided with the family of his brother Thomas. He was a most excellent man, - kind, considerate and always genial. He will be missed by a wide circle of friends and acquaintances.
