Ionia Daily Sentinel-Standard - Monday, Nov. 13, 1978

STANTON- John W. Cornell, 69, of Dickinson lake Road, Stanton died Sunday at 
Sparrow Hospital in Lansing.

He was born in Lansing November 12, 1909, the son of William and Cora Ritter 
Cornell.

He attended Evart School in Lansing. He was employed as a truck driver for Ray 
Sablin, Ready-Mix of Lansing and was also business agent for teamsters local 
580 until retirement in 1973. He had lived in Stanton for the past 20 years.

He married Mae Sawdy of Vermontville in 1967 and she preceded him in death in 
1978. He served with the army during World War II and was a member of the 
Lester Sitts American Legion Post No. 452 of Stanton and VFW Post 50656 of 
Sheridan.

Survivors include one brother, Oscar H.B. Cornell, Holton Lake; three sisters, 
Mrs. Arlo (Lyle)Graham, Lake Odessa; Mrs. Ira (Alberta) Ritter, Vista, Ca.; 
Mrs. (Viola) Wader, Grand Ledge; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 10 am at the Pickens-Koops funeral chapel in
Lake Odessa. Rev. Glenn Rairigh will officiate. Burial will be in Lakeside 
Cemetery.

Family will be at the chapel Monday from 2 pm to 4 pm and 7 pm to 9 pm to 
receive relatives and friends.
