The Portland Observer, Wednesday, May 6, 1885
Died – in Portland, May 4th, 1885, Spencer C. Cornell, of consumption, aged 40 
years, 8 months and 11 days.  Funeral services were held at the residence of 
the deceased this forenoon, under the auspices of the John Megarrah Post, of 
which he has been one of the most active members since it was instituted.
