She was born September 15, 1921 in Nunica, the daughter of Frank L. and Isabel Shears House. For several years Bertie had worked at Jolly Kids in Belding. Bertie was a faithful servant of God and gave love and hugs to all who knew her. She was an active member of Family Life Center Church of God in Belding. Her upbeat personality touched everyone who knew her, especially those at Metron of Greenville who took such good care of her the last four years. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Ronald E. Cory, in 1982; sister, Carolyn Seath; and brother Wesley House. Bertie is survived by her children, Nancy Thompson of Belding, Pat and Bud Flashaar, Barb and Stan McMeeken, all of Greenville, Debra and Paul Thornton of Cedar Springs, Carla and Dee Burnett of Belding; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and three great-great- grandchildren. Funeral services are 11 a.m. Friday at Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding, with Pastor Bill Overton of Family Life Center Church of God officiating. Interment is 2 p.m. Friday in Balcom Cemetery, Ionia. Visitation is from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to Metron of Greenville Activities Fund.
