Cotton, of Saranac, died on Monday at eight a.m., at the home of her son, I.L. Cotton, on West Main street, this city, where she was visiting, and where she had lain ill only about a week. She was aged 68 years, and for two years was quite feeble. Mrs. Cotton was a long time resident of Ionia county, and was highly respected in the community in which she lived so long. She has gone to join her husband, who preceded her to the other shore by some twenty years. The remains were taken to Saranac for interment same afternoon on the four o’clock train. ---- Saranac, Oct. 14. – The last sad rites of respect were paid to all that was mortal of Mrs. Lucy M. Cotton, Wednesday afternoon, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. S.M. Watt, and the loved form was tenderly placed in our own beautiful “God’s Acre,” beside the husband and children who preceded her so many years ago. The beautiful service of the church she loved was conducted by the Rev. W.H. Thomas, D.D., of Ionia, who also rendered a very appropriate discourse, which brought consolation to the bereaved. The music for the occasion was sweetly rendered. Mrs. Cotton was of a beautiful disposition, and was greatly esteemed by all who knew her. Not only in her own immediate circle will she be missed, but by the whole community.
