Armintha Manning was born  on April 21st, 1906, daughter of John and Letta
Manning, on the homestead farm just west of Hubbardston.  She grew to womanhood
in the community and completed the first ten grades of schooling in the
Hubbardston Public schools.  She was married to Percy Cotton in the winter of
1929 and for the next six years lived on farms in Southwestern Michigan, near
Lawrence.

They came back to Hubbardston community five years ago this coming March and
have spent the rest of the time in this community.  Mrs. Cotton joined the
Methodist church under the pastorate of the Rev. F. N. Drake in 1936, and has
been loyal in her attendance upon its services and has worked in the various
organizations since that time and was honored in the service which she rendered.

She was a splendid mother and the four children born to this union were being
trained as useful citizens of the home and community.  She will be greatly
missed in the home circle and the church societies in which she labored.  

She leaves to mourn her sudden departure from life’s activities, the husband,
Percy Cotton, four children, Elwyne LaRue, Martha Geneva, Leona Justine and
Orval Cotton, one brother, James Welcome Manning and one sister, Minnie Rowena,
a grandmother, Mrs. Armintha Sawyer of Blanchard, besides many other relatives.
 Her mother, Letta Manning, who was also a victim of the accident in which she
met fatal injuries, survived her only about a week.

The funeral was held at the Manning homestead on Saturday afternoon, Feb. 3rd,
with burial on the family lot in the Westside cemetery.  Rev. John W. Broxholm
officiated.
