Services Held for Bertha M. Cotton

Mrs. Bertha M. Cotton, 86, lifelong resident of Woodland, passed away Saturday 
morning at Pennock Hospital, Hastings, following a long illness. She had been 
hospitalized five days.

A native of Woodland township, she was the daughter of Herman and Martha 
(Spindler) Wheeler. She was an active member of the Kilpatrick United Brethren 
church, a member of the WMA of the church, and WCTU. She taught Sunday School 
for many years and also was a school teacher in the Hastings and Woodland area 
for many years.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Claudine Matthews and Mrs. Willis (Barbara) 
Dalton of Woodland; one son, Lee Guy of Hastings; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-
grandchildren and four great, great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at 1:30 at the Kilpatrick U.B. Church with 
burial in Woodland Memorial cemetery. Ronald Hoffman officiated.
