Cottrell, 47, formerly of this city, will be held this afternoon at 2 o’clock from the Myers Funeral Home in Ionia. Cottrell died Monday at the veterans hospital in Battle Creek. Cottrell lived here for several years with his parents during the time that his father, Fred, was employed at the T. Frank Ireland Hardware store as plumber. After serving a year in the World War Cottrell was discharged and has spent the rest of his life in various veterans hospitals. His parents, who now reside at Lansing, survive him. Another Publication - from the scrapbook of Bessie Townsend, Page 124, located in the Lyons, Michigan Museum. Lance A. Cottrell, 47, WWI veteran, died Monday at the Battle Creek Hospital. He was born February 20, 1893, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Cottrell, he served in 152nd infantry, spent one year overseas and spent the remainder of his life in a veterans hospital. Surviving are: Mrs. Ross Fleck of Lansing, Mrs. Daniel McNichol of Detroit, and Miss Gertrude Cottrell of Ionia, all his sisters; two brothers, Victor and Cobley of Ionia; and one half brother, Lester Cottrell of Cleveland.
