Laverne (Mike) H. Coulson, 88, of Saranac passed away Jan. 11, 2012 in Saranac. 
He was born Nov. 16, 1923 in Berlin Twp., the son of Fred and Lillian (Miller) 
Coulson. Mike married Greta Coble, March 27, 1948. She preceded him in death in 
1974. He went on to marry Patricia Routsaw, June 5, 1976.

He was a World War II Army Veteran. Mike worked for General Tier for 35 years 
until retiring in 1986. He was a member of St. Anthony's Church and Saranac 
American Legion for 46 years.


Mike is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Patricia Coulson of Saranac; 
daughters, Judy (Felix) De La Fuente of Saranac, Jeanne (Jess) Youmans of 
Saranac and Renee (David) Veenstra of Belding; grandchildren, Stacy (Chris) 
Venneman of Belding, Heidi Cary of Saranac, Brian Cary of Belding, Dan Ruid of 
Saranac, Mike Ruid of Saranac and Kenny Ruid of Saranac; 14 great 
grandchildren; and two great-great granddaughters.

He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, three brothers and two 
sisters.

Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Anthony's 
Catholic Church in Saranac, with Father Victor Kynam Celebrant. Interment 
Saranac Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Lake 
Funeral Home in Saranac.

Memorial contributions may be made in Mike's name to St. Anthony's Church, 
Ionia Hospice, Ionia Commission on Aging or Devos Children's Hospital. Online
