COULSON

Karen J. Coulson age 83 of Saranac passed away April 29, 2022 surrounded by her 
loving family. She was born January 8, 939 the daughter of George Edward and 
Myrle Rose (Mason) Peterson. Karen married Robert Coulson December 26, 1958 at 
SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Ionia.

She pursued a teaching degree receiving her Bachelor's from Western Michigan 
University and later her Master's Degree from Michigan State University. Karen 
would teach in area Ionia County Schools and eventually at Saranac Community 
Schools until her retirement.

She was a member of St.Anthony's Catholic Church in Saranac. Karen was an active 
volunteer all her life serving many Organizations; Cub Scout Leader, Friends of 
the Library, Ionia County Free Fair, Blood drives and the Hospital Guild. She 
enjoyed puzzles, cross stitch, antiquing, going to Disney in Florida and 
especially attending sporting events for her Children and grandchildren. Karen 
wintered in Haines City, Florida with her husband Bob for 29 year.

Surviving Karen is her loving husband Bob Coulson of Saranac. Children; Chris 
(Tami) Coulson of Saranac, Craig (Maureen) Coulson of Grand Rapids and Kim 
Coulson of Ionia. Grandchildren; Amanda (Bryan) Stratton, Kelli (Jeff) Moore, 
Chad (Jennah) Coulson, Kaleigh Coulson, Matt (Lauren) Coulson and Nick Coulson. 
Great-grandchildren; Kennidy, Colin, Rhett, Maebry, Charlotte and Theo. Sister 
Lois Ellis of Kalamazoo. Brothers Jim (Kathy) Peterson of Colorado Springs, CO. 
and Jerry (Karen) Peterson of Niceville, Fl.

She was receded in death by her parents, brother-in-law Peter Ellis and Sister-
in-law Mary Lous Coulson.

Funeral Mass was celebrated at St.Anthony's Catholic Church in Saranac 
Wednesday, May 4, 2022 at 11:00 a.m with father Aaron Ferris 
presiding.Visitation was from 1o a.m. until the time of services at the church
