Eugene D. Courser, 84, of Clarksville, passed away Friday, Dec, 9, 2011 at his 
residence. 



He was born Oct. 18, 1927 in Portland, the son of Herbert Dale and Ruth Evelyn 
(Friend) Courser.



He graduated from Portland High School in 1945 and served in the U.S. Army 
during the reconstruction of Germany following World War II.



Eugene was married to Clarabelle Bennett on Dec. 24, 1948 in Ionia.



He was a dairy farmer in the Clarksville area for many years and also was a 
Grand Rapids Press route Carrier for 10 years. Eugene enjoyed genealogy, 
bowling, carpentry and assisting his wife, Clarabelle, in cutting fabric needed 
for her quilting.



Eugene was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Paul Richard Courser on 
July 2, 2010; sister and brother-in-law, Marjorie and John Benedict.



Surviving is his loving wife of 63 years, Clarabelle Courser; children, Richard 
(Hope) Courser, Nancy Courser and friend Pat Murphy, Steven Courser and Cathy 
(JR) Coulter; grandchildren, Mary Beth Courser, Jason Jones, Joseph Jones, Ryan 
Tiffany, Jill Tiffany, Sammie Pierson, Jennifer Carver, Tammy Hoag and Todd 
Williams; great grandchildren, Shallie and Hunter Pierson, Landon Walkington 
and Jamie Tiffany; granddaughter-in-law, Shelia Courser; sister, Lucy (David) 
Stolt; brother-in-law, Bob Bennett; sister-in-law, Florence Ward, Charlene 
(Gene) Gorby; numerous nieces and nephews. 



Visitation with the family will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at 
Koops Funeral Chapel – Lake Odessa. Funeral services for Eugene will be 
conducted at 11 a.m. at Koops Funeral Chapel – Lake Odessa.  Interment will 
follow at Clarksville Cemetery.
