(Adgate) Courter, 84, of Ionia, died Thursday at the Ionia County Memorial Hospital. She was born July 15, 1904 in Saranac, the daughter of Brackley and Martha (Howe) Rickert. She attended Saranac schools. She married Max Adgate Sept. 1, 1925 in Saranac. They farmed all their married life on the present location of Sessions Lake on Jordan Lake Road. He preceded her in death on Jan. 11, 1960. She married Fred Courter in Florida. They lived in Florida, where he preceded her in death in 1973. In 1984 she moved back to Ionia. She was a member of the Berlin Center Aid Society. She is survived by three sons, Rod of Ionia, Bruce of Mt. Dora, Florida, and Brent of Lake Odessa; 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Hazen Rickert, and one sister, Myrtle Courter, and one nephew, Richard Courter. Cremation has taken place and a private memorial service is being arranged. Burial will be in Balcom cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by the Cook Funeral Home, Ionia.
