                              BASIL W. COURTER

SARANAC - Basel W. Courter, 78, of route 1, died Saturday evening in Belding 
Community Hospital.

Born in Berlin Township February 18, 1899 he was the son of Cornelious and Hila 
(Drew) Courter. He farmed in the Saranac area all hi life, and was active in the 
Galillee Baptist Church.

He married Vada Conner, March 25, 1936, in Indiana. She survives. He was 
preceded in death by his first wife, a son and a stepson.

Other survivors includes; two daughters,Mrs.Grace Taylor of Saranac, and 
Mrs.Blanche Mahar of Belding; a daughter-in-law, Alice Courter of Saranac; ten 
grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.

Private services will be held Wednesday afternoon at the Roetman-Lake Funeral 
Home in Saranac with the Rev B.Kenneth Martin of Green Corners Baptist Church of 
Belding officiating.

The family will receive relatives and friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Contributions may be made to the Galillee Baptist Church.

Burial is at Saranac Cemetery.
