Courtnay, 59, of 3626 W. Jordan Lake Street, Lake Odessa died Wednesday at Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids. He was born October 19, 1931, in Portland Township, the son of Herbert and Rosa Jackson Courtnay. He was graduated from Lake Odessa High School in 1949 and married Violet Vyverberg February 14, 1953, in Lake Odessa. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict and was employed by Keeler Brass for 41 years. He was president and a member of the board of the Men’s State Bowling Association. He served as secretary of the Lake Odessa Men’s Bowling Association for 28 years. He was score-keeper for local high school sport teams. He attended the Faith Bible Church of Lake Odessa. He is survived by his wife, his two sons; Chuck of Columbia SC, and Dave of Lake Odessa; eight grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 25, at Faith Bible Church, Lake Odessa, with the Rev. Richard Sessink and the Rev. Jim Olinski officiating. Burial will be in Lakeside cemetery. The family will be at the Koops Funeral Chapel, Lake Odessa from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday.
