Born August 14, 1884 in Campbell township, Ionia county, she was the daughter of Joel and Lucy Beech Jackson. Following her marriage September 17, 1902, to Bert Courtnay, they resided in Orange township in the Portland area where Mr. Courtnay died June 28, 1942. Mrs. Courtnay moved to Lake Odessa in 1950. She was a member of Congregational church and was active in church organizations. She also attended services at Calvary United Brethren church. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Dale Robinson of Lakeland and Mrs. George Lulak of Encino, Calif.; two sons, Ivan and Stanley Courtnay of Lake Odessa; 14 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Jennie Frey of Saranac and Mrs. Mable Bellington of Geneva, Ind.; also a brother, Claude Jackson of Lansing. Funeral service will be at Pickens funeral chapel Friday at 3:30 p.m. The Rev. Paul Bennehoff will officiate and interment will be at Lakeside cemetery.
