Violet had made South Carolina her home for the past 19 years. Violet was a Michigan school teacher for 40 years and continued in education in the South. Violet tutored children and tested home schooled students. She was a member of St. Matthews First Baptist Church where she had been WMU Director, a Sunday school teacher and a member of two mission groups. A graveside ceremony will be on June 26 at Lakeside Cemetery. Details will be announced at a later date. Violet was predeceased by her husband, Stanley J. Courtney. She is survived by two sons, Dave, and wife Mary, of Ovid, MI, and Chuck and wife Jane, St. Matthews. She was also survived by other family members her sister, Carol Hart; brother, Frank Vyverberg both of South Boardman; nine grandchildren, Mary Jo, Kristyn, Betsey, Joshua, Stan, Emily, Chase, Aiden, and Nellie; and numerous nieces and nephews.
