The Ionia Daily Sentinel-Standard, April 2006
Charles (Tom) Thomas Courtnay, aged 77, of Saranac passed away April 23, 2006 
in Ionia. He was born July 24, 1928 in Kissimmee, Florida the son of Fred and 
Gladys (Barber) Courtnay.  

He worked for Ionia Road Commission for 37 years until retiring in 1996. He 
was also a member of Ionia Moose Lodge. Tom lived and worked on the home farm 
in Berlin Twp. for many years.

Tom is survived by his children; Howard and Janice Courtnay of Saranac, Debbi 
Courtnay of Grand Rapids, Greg and Kim Courtnay of Ionia, Jeff Courtnay of 
Belding, Barry and Kelly Courtnay of Florida, MaryAnne and Rick Tyczinski of 
Comstock Park, Terri and Eric Carigon of Saranac and twelve grandchildren.

Upon his request there will be a graveside service 2 p.m., Thursday at Saranac 
Cemetery with Mr. Bruce Chadwick officiating. Arrangements by Lake Funeral 
Home in Saranac. Anyone wishing may make a memorial contribution to Ionia Area 
Hospice.
